ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW

Participants progress through levels by demonstrating inner strength, character, and the life and golf skills they have learned. All participants that are 7 years old and up who are new to First Tee must begin at the PLAYer level.
– TARGET (5 & 6 year old participants) – Basic golf fundamentals and concepts are introduced seamlessly through fun games
– PLAYer (required minimum age 7) – Tee it up for the first time and learn the game of golf and First Tee’s Code of Conduct
– Par (required minimum age 9) – Focus on interpersonal and self-management skills on and off the course
– Birdie (required minimum age 11) – Emphasis on setting goals and making them a reality
– Eagle (required minimum age 13) – Learn resilience, conflict resolution, and future planning
– Ace (required minimum age 14 or entering 9th grade) – Put it all together and hone in on setting goals, career education, and giving back to the community

ASSESSMENT OPPORTUNITIES

All assessments will take place during classes in the last week of each five-week session. Each enrolled participant who meets the minimum requirements (age and programming hours completed), completes their Yardage Book, passes their written assessments, completes their Life Skills Interview (Par and above), and takes a golf skills assessment will be allowed to progress to their next level.

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

PLAYer Level Assessment (Must be at least 9 years old and meet minimum programming hours requirement to take this assessment)
Life Skill Elements
1. Complete PLAYer Level Yardage Book (bring completed book to assessment for approval)
2. Score 80% or higher on Life Skills Knowledge Written Assessment – CLICK HERE to review PLAYer Yardage Book
3. Score 80% or higher on Golf Knowledge Written Assessment
Golf Skill Elements
1. Playing Requirement (bring completed scorecard to the Assessment): Play one 9 hole round in a fast, safe, and courteous manner and record your score accurately.
2. Putting Assessment: Play a 9 hole putting course with a coach and other participants demonstrating proper etiquette on and around the green

Par Level Assessment (Must be at least 11 years old and meet minimum programming hours requirement to take this assessment)
Life Skill Elements
1. Complete Par Level Yardage Book (bring completed book to assessment for approval)
2. Score 80% or higher on Life Skills Knowledge Written Assessment – CLICK HERE to review Par Yardage Book
3. Score 80% or higher on Golf Knowledge Written Assessment
4. Life Skills interview with a FTNF Coach
Golf Skill Elements
1.
Playing Requirement (must bring completed scorecard to the Assessment): One 9 hole round in a fast, safe, and courteous manner with a score of 72 or under from 1,500 yards or more.
2. Putting Assessment: 9 hole putting course with a maximum score of 27 and demonstrate proper etiquette on and around the green
3. Short Game Assessment: 3 holes with a maximum score of 12
NOTE: Par Level Golf Skill elements MUST be successfully completed before applying for opportunities offered by First Tee Headquarters

Birdie Level Assessment (Must be at least 13 years old and meet minimum programming hours requirement to take this assessment)
**By appointment only after Goal Ladders and Golf Rounds have been turned in and accepted**
Life Skill Elements
1. Complete Birdie Level Yardage Book (bring completed book to assessment for approval)
2. Compete 2 Goal Ladders (must be completed prior to Assessment Day)
– Goal Ladders must be at least 10 steps long and have a stated goal 5-7 years out. One golf specific goal ladder and one goal ladder for outside of golf. Please use the following templates:

3. Score 80% or higher on Life Skills Knowledge Written Assessment
4. Score 80% or higher on Golf Knowledge Written Assessment
5. Interview with a FTNF Coach
Golf Skill Elements
1. Playing Requirement (must bring completed scorecards to the Assessment): Play five 9 hole rounds in a fast, safe, and courteous manner with a score of 63 or under from 2,000 yards or more.

Putting Assessment: 9 hole putting course with a maximum score of 23 and demonstrate proper etiquette on and around the green
3. Short Game Assessment: 6 holes with a maximum score of 21
4. Full Swing Assessment (55-75 yards to center of green): 3 out of 6 shots finish on the green

Eagle Level Assessment (Must be at least 14 years old and meet minimum programming hours requirement to take this assessment)
**By appointment only after golf rounds have been turned in and accepted and participant must go through interview portion of past levels: PLAYer, Par, and Birdie**
Life Skill Elements
1. Complete Eagle Level Yardage Book (bring completed book to assessment for approval)

Score 80% or higher on Life Skills Knowledge Written Assessment
3. 
Score 80% or higher on Golf Knowledge Written Assessment
4. Interview with a FTNF staff member that has reached “The First Tee Coach” designation per First Tee Headquarters
Golf Skill Elements
1.
Playing Requirement (must bring completed scorecards to the Assessment): Play ten 18-hole rounds and keep scorecards (100 or lower required score at a yardage of at least 5,000 yards)
2. Putting Assessment: score an 18 or lower on a 9-hole putting course and demonstrate proper etiquette on and around the green
3. Short Game Assessment: score a 27 or lower on a 9-hole chipping course
4. Full Swing Assessment (80-100 yards to center of green): 3 out of 6 shots finish on the green
5. Full Swing Assessment (at least 160 yards onto a fairway 40-45 yards wide): 3 out of 6 shots finish in the fairway

***Once Eagle certified, participant will need to complete the Ace Level Application***
