College Scholarships

The mission of the First Tee - North Florida College Scholarship Program is to provide educational opportunities to participants and alumni who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to and/or excellence through First Tee.

Application Notes and Instructions

  • Submit one application per participant. The Scholarship Committee will determine which students will receive each scholarship.
  • Review the application prior to completing. The following documents must be uploaded into the application so we recommend securing copies before beginning the application.
    • High school transcript that includes cumulative GPA and class rank (required)
    • FAFSA that includes Student Aid Index (SAI) (required)
    • Senior and/or Graduation Photo (required)
    • SAT and/or ACT Score (optional)

Scholarships

Earl "Chip" Trefry, Jr. Scholarship

Created in memory of Earl “Chip” Trefry, Jr. As Mr. Trefry was, the recipients are leaders in their community and have a strong character foundation. Up to $25,000 awarded, with up to $6,250 per year renewable for four consecutive academic years.

Requirements Include:

  • High School Senior
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Minimum three (3) years with First Tee – North Florida
  • Minimum 40 Volunteer Hours with First Tee – North Florida (may be served after scholarship is awarded)

Meteorology & Environmental Science Scholarship

Created by longtime supporter, Richard Stetina, this scholarship is for alumni wishing to pursue a degree or vocational training certificate in Meteorology, Environmental Sciences, or other field of study that relates to the environment and/or pollution control. Up to $15,000 may be awarded over three (3) or four (4) academic years.

Requirements include:

  • High School Senior or College Freshman
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Minimum three (3) years with First Tee – North Florida
  • Minimum 40 Volunteer Hours with First Tee – North Florida (may be served after scholarship is awarded)

Bill Carpenter Scholarship

Created in memory of Bill Carpenter, this is a competitive application that will be based on an applicant’s academic achievement, community involvement, and commitment to First Tee – North Florida. Scholarship recipients will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship.

Requirements Include:

  • High School Senior
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Minimum three (3) years with First Tee – North Florida

Henry Tuten Gator Bowl Pro-Am Scholarship

Henry Tuten is a Gator Bowl Hall of Fame member who has a passion for junior golf. Two First Tee – North Florida alumni will be awarded a one-time, $2,000 scholarship and be recognized on the field during hafltime of the Taxslayer Gator Bowl game at EverBank Stadium.

Requirements include:

  • High School Senior
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Minimum three (3) years with First Tee – North Florida
